That success has to look a certain way by a certain age. In my twenties I thought I'd 'fallen behind' because I wasn't hitting milestones on schedule. By my forties I'd seen enough lives unfold to know the timeline is made up - some people peak at 30, some at 60, and the rest of us are just living.

Used to hate them as a kid, now I put them in everything. The texture was always the problem for me but cooking them right makes all the difference. Sautéed with butter and garlic until they're actually browned, not just steamed and soggy. Changed my whole perspective on fungus
